Don't know who started this, but each year we try to have a 'posh' do. The idea is to get all dressed up in posh frocks or fancy dress and have a good meal, swap stories and have some entertainment somewhere private, just for us!

Along with the posh bun fight usually goes an awards ceremony in recognition of anyone who has done anything 'outstanding' during the year and then, various games for those so inclined.

Here are two examples:-

The Regimental Picnic 2002

This was held at New Buckenham castle just outside Norwich. We all brought food & drink and camped overnight. The ruins of the castle are supposedly haunted which caused much amusement in the dark. Particularly as there were no lights on the way to the portaloos and Steve Conneely from Kemps Men decided to put a sheet over his head and run around the top of the castle. This was a very dangerous thing to do as we discovered in the morning.

The Regimental Banquet 2006

This was at a youth hostel in Shereford near Fakenham. It seemed to be miles from anywhere in the outback of Norfolk and several of us got quite lost trying to find it.  However we all got there in the end and had a great time as usual.  One polypin of beer was provided so we brought the rest ourselves. An excellent meal was cooked for us by some staff and students at the hostel. After the usual presentations there were the games and, guess what, dancing. Fortunately there were bedrooms and dormitories at the hostel so nobody had to drive home.
